CHIEF MINISTER Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday enumerated the government’s achievements and accused the Opposition parties of misleading the people against his regime.

The chief minister was addressing a gathering of beneficiaries of the Kanya Vidya Dhan of Bulandshahr district, party workers and villagers in BB Nagar. The rally was organised by Basic Education Minister Prof Kiranpal, who won praise from the chief minister for raising the standard of basic education.
The chief minister spoke about Kanya Vidya Dhan, unemployment allowance, food, sugarcane and sugar policies.
He said farmers in UP were happy with the government and contrasted the situation with Vidharbha where many farmers committed suicide.
Without naming VP Singh, he came down heavily on the former prime minister and accused him of trying to create hurdles in the State’s development.
Claiming to be a ‘true farmer’, he blamed the former PM for creating a fuss over the Reliance project at Dadri for no logical reason.
“The land for the project has been purchased from farmers at four times more than the government rate,” said the CM. He called upon his MLAs and party functionaries to counter the propaganda of Opposition parties. “Reach out to the masses and tell them truth,” he said and appealed to beneficiaries of the Kanya Vidya Dhan to support his party during the elections.
“When you return home, ask your family members to support the party,” he urged the girls who received cheques for Rs 20,000 each.
Minister of State for Finance Shahid Manzoor and the Basic Education Minister also called upon people to vote the party back to power. “Only the SP can put a smile on the faces of farmers, labourers and unemployed youth,” they said.
The chief minister announced 70 development projects worth Rs 155 crore for the district. He asked Kiranpal Singh to complete construction of the newly sanctioned Rajkiya Mahavidyalaya as soon as possible.
