The latest in the line is the Moti Lal Nehru District (Colvin) Hospital, which has recently acquired the status of regional hospital.

The post of the superintendent-in-charge (SIC) has also been created at the hospital in view of its regional status.

After the Beli Hospital, major renovation work has now started at the Colvin Hospital to give a completely new look to its wards, floor and roof. Under the renovation plan, the pan-stained walls will be covered with tiles, up to the height of four feet. The Kota marble will be laid on the floor to make it more hygienic.

The roofs will be repaired to remove dampness and make it leakage-proof. The old electricity fittings will be replaced with the new underground fitting. A separate unit will be installed for bio-medical waste disposal. There is also proposal to set up a high-tech seminar room on the first floor of the hospital.

The garages and systematic parking facility will also be developed in the 160-bed hospital.

In order to stop entry of outsiders, the boundary wall of the hospital will be further raised. The old rusted gates will be replaced with the new one. The cattle-catchers will be installed at various places on the hospital premises to end cattle menace.

Chief medical superintendent of Colvin Hospital Dr SJ Singh said the State Government had sanctioned over Rs 1 crore for the renovation project.

The work has already started from male medical ward and was expected to complete within a year, he added. "The Nirman Nigam is handling the project. We have also planned other facilities at the hospital.

The proposal has also been sent to the government for its approval," he added.
Dr Singh said very shortly the SIC would be posted at the hospital.

The post was recently created in view of its elevated status.
