In order to create a four-lane road, NHA has constructed the wide divider on the highway passing through the congested areas of the city without removing encroachments on both the sides of the busy road.

This has resulted in narrowing the road area and causing unprecedented difficulties to traffic on the road. The situation becomes worse during the late evenings and especially in the night hours when pressure goes up.

Above all, power roistering in the night also posing serious threat commuters.

People encroached upon both the sides of the roads and the light vehicles do not get sufficient passage to move onward. According to the citizens, the NHA should have first removed the encroachment with the help of municipal authorities before creating two feet wide dividers on the road.

On the other hand, the KMC has converted one of the sides of the national highway the garbage-dumping yard near the Forest Research Institute (FRI).
One could witness huge garbage heaps on the one side of the road for over half a kilometer long stretch. This has also narrowed the road area causing difficulties to the light and heavy vehicular traffic.

A senior officer at the FRI told Hindustan Times that the garbage heap has created pollution problem in the area, but despite several representations, KMC did not pay any heed and did not get the garbage heaps removed. Rather it shifted its responsibility over to NHA saying that the garbage heaps were created by the NHA for road making purposes.
