Cong wins 4 nagar panchayat seats in Kanpur Dehat
PUTTING UP one of the best show in the last decade or so, the Congress wrested four nagar panchayats out of the total eight in Kanpur Dehat area. While at Bithoor nagar panchayat, Nirmala Singh of the Samajwadi Party (SP) won the Chairman?s post by 697 votes. Singh emerged winner for the second time consecutively.

PUTTING UP one of the best show in the last decade or so, the Congress wrested four nagar panchayats out of the total eight in Kanpur Dehat area.
While at Bithoor nagar panchayat, Nirmala Singh of the Samajwadi Party (SP) won the Chairman’s post by 697 votes. Singh emerged winner for the second time consecutively.
In Kanpur Dehat, the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party had to remain content with one seat each while one seat went to an independent candidate.
Both the SP and the BSP, which dominated the campaign in Kanpur Dehat suffered considerable losses. The SP most of setback as against four seats in the last elections the party could get only one seat this time. Its nominee from Shivli Nagar Panchayat Radha Krishna alias Lallan Bajpai won for the third time in a row.
However, Vijay Laxmi Mishra of the Congress wrested the Derapur panchayat from SP candidate. Munni Begum of Congress registered an emphatic win over SP nominee in Secundra, Santosh Mishra of Congress registered victory from Jhijhank while the Congress candidate gave a jolt to the SP nominee in Rasoolabad to gain control of Nagar panchayat.
In Roora, the BSP candidate supported by Congress and BJP trounced the SP candidate. While Akbarpur Nagar panchayat went to the BJP supported candidate Jitendra Singh.
Independent candidate Uday Narayan Agrwal was declared winner from Pukhrayan nagar panchayat.
Senior Congress leader Nek Chandra Pandey who is being credited with the success said had the polls been transparent the party would have won more seats.
At Bithoor nagar panchayat Prithviraj Singh alias Bani Singh stood second with 1082 votes. While the former Chairman of Bithoor Nagar Panchayat Ramchandra Subhadar alias Baba Saheb could only muster 762 votes. In all 6000 votes were polled for the Chairman and panchayat members seat.
Similarly, results for all the 10 panchayats of Bithoor were also declared on Monday. Following candidates from 10 nagar panchayats in Bithoor won the elections.
From Mainawati Nagar panchayat Chunni Devi, Tatyatope Nagar Deepak Kumar Savita, Chandrashekhar from Peshwa Nagar, Ajit Singh from Subedar Nagar, Rani Awasthi from Dhruv Nagar, Rani Verma from Maharishi Valmiki Nagar, Prem Kishore from Lakshmibai Nagar, Shiv Kumar from Brahma Nagar, Rakesh Dixit from Luvkush Nagar and Suman from Ajitmulla Nagar.
