He strongly condemned Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for his remarks against Rahul Gandhi and calling him ‘immature’. Terming it as an insult, he called upon the youths to give a befitting reply to the Samajwadi Party in the election and claimed that the ruling party was scared of the increasing popularity of the young Congress MP.

Jamal also condemned SP leader for making objectionable remarks against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and clarified that Sonia never delivered written speech. He said it was ridiculous to make a cheapt comment against the UPA chairperson who had sacrificed the post of the prime minister. Jamal claimed that success of party rallies in Kanpur and Bareilly had mounted intense pressure on the State government.

In reply to a question, he said Congress had planned to organise its third rally in eastern UP. Union Minister for Small Scale Industries Mahavir Prasad had suggested the name of Gorakhpur for the rally, he said and expressed hope that Sonia Gandhi along with other senior leaders would decide the venue for the rally.

Criticising SP for ignoring the minorities Jamal said minorities had been harassed under SP rule in various districts and the party had failed to uplift their educational and social status. Senior party leader Qamruzzama Ansari expressed hope that the decision taken in the Congress chief ministers’ meeting at Uttranchal will be enforced and it would consolidate the party position.
