"Congress filed the complaint only to attack TRS. The complaint was based on media reports. TRS is conducting the agitation for separate state in a peaceful manner. We told the Chief Electoral Officer that there is no substance in the complaint made against the TRS president," former TRS MP B Vinod Kumar told reporters.

The EC has issued a notice to the TRS president following a complaint by Congress that Rao had made "inflammatory" statements that amounted to violation of model code of conduct which is in force for the bypolls to 12 assembly seats in Telangana scheduled to be held on July 27.

Vinod Kumar also faulted the EC for reportedly filing a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court against the Andhra Pradesh High Court directing the poll panel to hold bypoll in Vemulawada and Sircilla assembly seats.

The EC had earlier decided to hold the election only in 10 seats and not in the two seats as election petitions were pending in the court.
