Choudhary Mohammad Aslam of Congress and Mohammad Yousuf Taing of National Conference are the candidates left in the fray after the expiry of the date of withdrawal of nominations on Thursday, Returning Officer for the seat and Secretary Legislative Assembly Mohammad Iqbal Ganai said on Friday.

The election for the seat will be held on June 15.

The lone Rajya Sabha seat from the state had fallen vacant due to resignation from the Upper House by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who has since been elected to the state assembly from Bhaderwah constituency in the bypolls held in April.

Besides Aslam and Taing, Mohammad Hassan Parray had filed nomination papers for the seat as an independent candidate. However, his papers were rejected after scrutiny.
