The girl was found on the banks of Veda River that flows through Kakadgaon village, on Friday morning. The girl's father told the police that she went to sleep with her three sisters after returning from a garba function on Thursday night.

Khargone superintendent of police Amit Singh had earlier said the post-mortem examination confirmed rape and murder. The girl, a student of class 3, had injuries in her private parts.

The SP assured they would nab the main accused soon.
