For the first time in the district, police officials have been directed to prepare a list of land sharks in their respective police circles.
Senior superintendent of police Dipesh Juneja directed subordinate officials to improve their style of functioning to gain the confidence of people and instill a sense of security among them. He rebuked the police station incharge for laxity in duty and warned them.
The SSP was presiding over a meeting of all the police station incharges at police lines. The meeting was called in view of the recent directive of newly appointed DGP Bua Singh to put criminals behind bars. The SSP directed subordinate officials to prepare a blueprint for action against the criminals and said a daily crime report and information regarding arrest would be sent to the police headquarters.
In the meeting, the SSP discussed 18 points to which the DGP had given priority and asked subordinate police officials to launch a campaign against wanted criminals from April 20 to May 19. He further directed the officials to reach the spot after any crime.
According to sources, police officials have been directed to prepare a list of land sharks. The SSP said illegal possession of property would be checked.
Police officials will also draw up a list of incidents of road hold-up and ransom in the last five years. Juneja said he would review implementation of the DGP’s orders on April 30.
