Couple commits suicide at Matheran

The couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a cliff near Little Chowk on Sunday. Taruna Uke (23), a law student, and Ravindra Patil (20), a commerce student from the same Ulhasnagar college, were in love but their families were opposed to their relationship, as the girl was three years older.

Police Inspector A. P. Patil said: “On Sunday, a tourist found mobile phones, slippers, a purse lying near the valley and informed us.”

“They may have jumped off the cliff on Sunday evening, but we waited until the next day as it was impossible to look for the bodies at night,” said Patil.
