Couple held in truck case

Police on Thursday arrested Shiv Charan Heda and his wife Deepa from Ahmedabad in connection with the disappearance of 163 trucks carrying explosives to Madhya Pradesh from a firm in Rajasthan.

They were wanted in the case along with Jai Kishan Ashwani, who was arrested recently in Madhya Pradesh.

The police have found that the couple evaded sales and excise tax worth Rs 7 crore in 2007-08. They have seven explosives godowns in four states with an annual turnover of Rs 15 crore.

SP Umesh Dutta said the couple were being brought to Bhilwara for questioning.
