The additional sessions judge Shyam Behari Sharma, in a letter sent to the SSP, has alleged that in some cases, the dates were fixed for evidence. But neither any pairokar from the police station had come nor any information was given by the police station concerned about it.The court did not know whether the witnesses in these cases had come or not. In case the witnesses were not present, what was the reason for it, the court asked.

Taking a serious view, the additional sessions judge asked the SSP to take punitive action against the lax station officers.

Under the Police Act and also as per several rulings of the Supreme Court, it is the duty of the police station in-charge to produce the witnesses before the court on the date fixed.
