The daughter of Atulya Mafatlal and her aunts had moved the court seeking anticipatory bails after Atulya's second wife Sheetal lodged a first information report (FIR) claiming that they were torturing her since June.
"We have opposed the anticipatory bail and the court will hear us on the matter before granting or rejecting their prayer," said Zulfi Memon, Sheetal's advocate.
Marushka had earlier moved the magistrate court against Sheetal alleging that that the Gamdevi police did not register her complaints against her step-mother, who allegedly stole priceless paintings and artifacts from their residence.
Meanwhile, justice AM Khanwilkar, presiding over a division bench of the Bombay high court, opted out of hearing a petition filed by Peter Vaz, a director of Matulya Trading and Investment Ltd. Vaz sought lodging of FIR against Sheetal for allegedly stealing a painting of artist Manjit Bawa.
