A local CPI-M leader was stabbed to death by unidentified persons this morning near a police station at Canning in South 24-Parganas district.

Police said Mosharaf Hossain Khan (56) was attacked by sharp weapons at Helicopter More when he went for a morning walk at Amraberia here.
He bled to death on the spot, they said.
Khan was a member of CPI-M's Canning Local Committee and was elected to South 24-Parganas district Zilla Parishad last year.
In a separate incident, two persons sustained bullet wounds when a clash broke out during by-polls to panchayat samiti at Durgapur in Bhangar in the district.
