CPI-M will raise in Parliament the sufferings of people due to floods in Jammu and Kashmir and problems in relief and rehabilitation.

"CPI-M MP and Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury will strongly raise their sufferings on account of flood relief and rehabilitation in coming session of Parliament and also with state government in Srinagar," a party spokesman said.

Yechury on Wednesday visited areas affected by floods and heavy rains in Jammu region. He toured Beli Charana area here on the banks of Tawi river and also visited villages in Pancheri block of Udhampur district, the spokesman said.

The Rajya Sabha member went to village Sadal where 17 bodies were still buried in mud and slush.

Yechury informed that party MPs have deposited Rs 10 crore in the relief fund for the flood victims.

He demanded that the Centre should declare the problem as national disaster so that sufferers could get adequate assistance.
