Criminal killed in Sarnath encounter

The slain criminal was identified as 30-year-old Gulzar, who was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head. More than a dozen cases of heinous crime were registered against him in different police stations.
As per information, police were checking vehicles at Paharia crossing on Friday night. A team asked two persons to stop their motorcycle.
The duo tried to flee. The police team informed all the police stations nearby and chased the miscreants. The criminals opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police gunned down the pillion rider at Omnagar Colony, while his accomplice managed to escape arrest.
Later, the slain criminal was identified as a history-sheeter of Jaitpura.
The Cantonment and Sarnath teams took part the operation.
SSP Ashutosh Pandey and SP (City) Anant Deo rushed to the encounter site and appreciated the police team for the successful operation.
