Dacoits Seema, Renu acquitted in kidnap, firing on police case

Special dacoity court judge Indrajeet Verma pronounced the acquittal of both dacoits observing that no evidence was found against both the accused as witnesses did not mention their involvement in the case.
According to the prosecution, the two women dacoits had kidnapped of six persons on November 27, 2004 from village Garhi at about 9 pm, when they were watering their field.
They were freed after an encounter with police under police station Amrahat on December 17, 2004.
However, during the trial, all the kidnapped persons told the court that they were kidnapped by a gang of dacoits, which did not have any woman member and they were released by the dacoits and not after in any encounter, according to the defence lawyer RK Yadav who added that the investigating police officer had failed to present any substantial evidence about the involvement of the two women accused.
In an earlier case of kidnapping for ransom under police station Sikandra, both the women were acquitted last month for want of evidence.
However, Renu is still accused in 13 cases including robbery, kidnapping, loot and murder in Etawah, Auraiyya and Jalaun, while Seema is left with one criminal case against her.
