A 25-year-old dalit youth was lynched by a mob of villagers in Amravali village of the district for allegedly watching a woman take bath, police said on Sunday.

Relatives of the victim, Pradeep, alleged he was thrashed by family members of a farmer on Saturday, who later put poison in his mouth to make it appear a case of suicide, police said.

The villagers reportedly charged the victim with watching a woman take bath.

Pradeep, a farm labourer, was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said, adding a case had been registered against four persons including two women.
