TENSION CONTINUES to prevail in Mau with the activists of BJP and lawyers protesting against the police inaction in arresting the ‘real’ culprits behind the murder of the BJP leader’s son on August 2.

Meanwhile, police claim to have arrested two persons in connection with the murder.
But according to reports, the locals do not subscribe to the theory.
According to Inspector General of Police (Varanasi zone) AC Sharma, murder case of the student Ankit Kumar was worked out with the arrest of two persons.
He said that two persons identified as Asif and Paritosh Verma have been arrested in connection with the murder. Explaining, Sharma said that deceased Ankit’s affair with the daughter of one Prehlad Verma was the reason behind the murder.
He claimed that Paritosh Verma, son of Prahlad Verma, planned to get Ankit killed and hired a local shooter, Asif, who executed his killing for Rs 50,000. He said that the third person involved in the murder was absconding.
Resentment is brewing in the sensitive Mau township over the police theory believing that the story was ‘manufactured’ in view of Chief Minister’s visit on Tuesday.
There are reports that the girl the police was talking about was much elder to the murdered boy who was a class XI student and the question of their love affair leading to murder creates doubts in the minds of the people.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav would be visiting Mau on Tuesday in connection with the disbursement of unemployment allowance.
Senior police and civil officers are camping in the town since August 2 since the murder took place, which led to widespread protests and violence in the town.
