The AI board, which met on Monday, expressed concern at the mounting losses due to the strike. The airline has lost around Rs. 150 crore in the last eight days. The board supported the management's decision to take stern action against agitating pilots.

Govt toughens stand

The government on Monday termed the strike ‘meaningless’, even as it appeared to toughen its stand on the issue. Sources said the AI management and the aviation ministry has received support from various quarters for the stand it has taken with regard to strikes in the national carrier.

Ruckus in Mumbai

On Sunday night, a group AI passengers tried to block the international ramp as there was nobody from the airline offering information about the status of their flights. “It was a minor ruckus that did not last for more than 10 minutes,” said an airport official.
