DC Kathua holds meeting with sarpanches

Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary convened meeting of the 39 panchayats of Kathua block, was attended by senior officials of the district administration and sarpanches.
He made reference of the redefined role of the panchayats in planning and development process and called upon them for positive contribution for grassroots development. He said tehsildars and BDOs have been directed to hold monthly meetings with departments which had been associated with the panchayats.
Assistant commissioner development was directed to ensure that panchayat secretaries and Grameen Rozgar Sewaks engaged to assist the panchayats work in letter and spirit for strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The DC asked sarpanches to formulate charter of demands in respect of each panchayat and raise the issue during the grievance redressal camps and meetings.
The meeting also discussed the status of the construction of panchayat ghar and various rural development schemes.
