The delegation apprised the Chief Minister that the State could effectively trade dry-fruits and face competition from other states, only if the item was brought down to the four per cent tax slab against the present 12.5 per cent slab.

The Chief Minister said a suitable decision would be taken soon regarding some anomalies brought into the notice of the State Government after introduction of VAT.

He said the Government intends to mobilise additional funds for development and has no intention of imposing only tax unjustifiably or adversely hitting the trade interests.

The delegation included Ramesh Khandelwal, Govind Malviya and other traders.
