The dharna was in favour of the relay hunger strike started by former chairman of Planning Commission Mohan Dharia to invite the attention of government over the pathetic condition of farmers.

The participants condemned apathetic attitude of government over the starvation in various parts of the state. They said the attitude of the government against the farmers was a part of well-planned conspiracy to compel the farmers to leave farming and to allot the land to the industrialists.

They demanded the impact of new economic policies on Indian economy and in agriculture sector should be reviewed.
