They also demanded to increase 25 per cent seats in all disciplines. Later, the V-C announced that the fee raise had been reduced and now students taking admission to BA would have to pay Rs 1,600 instead of Rs 1,900. Besides, the charge of students scholarship form too had been reduced from Rs 9 to Re 1.

Earlier, secretary of DDU students’ union Hareshyam Singh Shrinetra condemned the enhancement of admission and other fee and has demanded to withdraw the hike in the fee. Singh said it is a conspiracy to deprive economically weak persons from getting higher education. It is noteworthy that process of admission to BA was on at the Convocation Hall of the university.
The students’ union leader took out a procession and staged a dharna at the convocation hall. Prof Kumar reached the dharna spot and assured that the result of all entrance tests would be declared within two days. Former vice-president of the students’ union Dr Mahendra Rai, Gaurav Singh, Yogesh Pratap Singh and others said a meeting of all office-bearers of the students union had been convened on July 25 at students’ union hall to discuss future course of action for mounting pressure on university authority to increase 25 per cent seats in all disciplines.
