Discreet surveillance helps cops seize 28.87 kg heroin worth Rs 40 crore, arrest 2 men

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 28.87kg of high grade heroin worth more than Rs 40 crore and arrested two persons.
Senior DRI officials said they got specific intelligence inputs that a gang of 2-3 people would enter Delhi on March 2. It launched an operation code-named 'Naya Savera' in which "discreet surveillance was maintained at all the entry points of Delhi. Late night, we saw vehicles which matched the description we had near Sarojini Nagar. After a short chase, we nabbed them," a senior DRI officer said.
The contraband was high quality Afghan heroin which was brought from Pakistan via Punjab, an officer said.
