Dr Mahesh Sharma takes charge
TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS expert Dr Mahesh Sharma Friday took charge as the eighth Director General of the MP Council of Science and Technology (MAPCOST) in Bhopal.
Addressing the scientists and other staff members of the institute after taking charge, Dr Sharma said that only proper application of science and technology could help make the state prosperous.
He said that it is ironic that a state with such vast and varied natural resources be termed a BIMARU state and if real progress were to be made here, science and technology would have to be invested judiciously along with rural technology.
The incumbent DG said that a detailed work plan would have to be chalked out and implemented by properly networking with other related agencies.
Dr Sharma has experience of 35 years in rural development programmes. After being chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for six and a half years, he was associated with the RCART, Jharkhand.
