“We will summon Vijender for questioning,” Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Hardyal Singh Mann told PTI. Sources said the Olympian bronze medallist will be summoned within the next 72 hours.

Police on Sunday also arrested Sunil Katyal, who was the “quality drug controller” for the group running the racket.

Vijender found himself in the eye of the storm after Ram Singh said they consumed heroin together. On Sunday, the boxer said, “Whenever and wherever the police call me, I will come. I’m ready to face any investigation.”

The NIS also maintained that any decision on the boxer will be taken only after police investigation is over. “Vijender is yet to give his statement and he maintains he never took drugs,” executive director LS Ranawat said.
