A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Russia's Komandorskiye Islands on Wednesday in the Bering Sea, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The epicentre of the quake was 165 kilometres (105 miles) northwest of Nikol'skoye in the Komandorskiye or Commander Islands in the Russian Far East and 505 kilometres (315 miles) northeast of the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, the USGS said.
The earthquake occurred at 2:06 pm local time (0106 GMT) at a depth of 30 kilometres, it said.
