Dr SK Sharma, director of the Allahabad Museum, inaugurated the event. Dr Rathore, who is also the director of the School of Natural Arts, gave new dimensions to the word painting by using dried leaves in her creations.

She used the dried leaves as a major ingredient accompanied with other materials such as bark.

With almost 28 paintings adorning the walls of the gallery, the themes of most of her creations were based on the incidents in the life of Gautam Buddha. She also depicted the mythological characters such as king Dushyant and Shakuntala in her creations. Interestingly, the process of highlighting in few spots was also done with the help of leaves of various colours.

"I was inspired by Japan's initiative in making the best out the waste and this exhibition is the result of my hard work," she said. The exhibition will remain open for the visitors on April 14.
