The advocate leading gangster Abu Salem’s legal team has filed a complaint claiming that he was beaten by three unidentified men and robbed of Rs 5,000 on January 31.
No arrests have been made yet, said Sub-Inspector S.J. Bandekar of the Dindoshi police station. “We have registered a case of robbery against unidentified people.”
Tegbahadur Sing Thakur had been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital for injuries and was later discharged.
On January 31 morning, Thakur was driving his Santro in Dindoshi when a bike allegedly dashed his car. When Thakur confronted the biker, the pillion rider allegedly assaulted Thakur, the complaint said. As the lawyer retaliated, three more men got down from an Indica and joined the pillion rider and beat up Thakur. One of the men allegedly hit him with a leather belt.
A police van that was passing by rescued Thakur and took one of the bike riders to the police station. Thakur alleged that the police let the man go. He also claimed that the attackers had taken Rs 5,000 from his shirt pocket.
Thakur had earlier represented gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli.
