To recall, SHO Ghatampur MP Saloniya, had changed the encounter memo to safeguard himself in case an inquiry was ordered in the fake encounter in which 15-year-old Santan Yadav was killed by mistake by police bullets.
Saloniya reportedly headed the police team involved in the encounter. When senior cops reached the spot after the encounter, Saloniya reportedly stood in front of other police officials to grab credit for killing Yadav, whom he described as a notorious criminal.
Later when it was established that Yadav was innocent and the police could not find even a single case against him at any police station, Saloniya tampered with the official documents and effaced his name from the post-encounter memo. Instead, he made SSI Jai Prakash Bharti the scapegoat by announcing that Bharti’s team killed Santan Yadav, a resident of Jahangirabad village.
Meanwhile, the SSP who suspended three cops at Chakeri police station, made Dharm Prakash Shukla station officer of Beconganj police station. Shukla was earlier posted at a police post under Railbazaar police station.
The SSP also transferred Umesh Srivastava from Beconganj to Kakadev police station as SHO.
