Around 200 farmers of Noida’s Sarfabad village on Sunday stormed into a real estate developer’s construction site in Sector 120 with a herd of buffaloes and disrupted work, alleging that the authority had allotted the land for a residential complex without paying compensation for the same.
The disgruntled farmers, along with about 40 buffaloes, reached the site of Amrapali Group, demanding their land back. They allegedly pelted stones at the builder’s staff after being prevented from entering the site.
Later, the staff called police to control the situation. The police officials convinced the farmers for a meeting on Monday to discuss and sort out the issue. The work on the housing society is about to complete.
“Both, the police and the builder, have promised us to call a meeting in presence of Noida authority chief executive officer Sanjeev Saran on Monday. They assured us that they would give our land back. If they fail to keep their words, we will reclaim our land and make a buffalo barn there. The builder has illegally constructed the building on 4,500 square metre land of khasra number 630,” said Raju Yadav, one of the protesters.
However, Amrapali officials have denied the allegation. “The Noida authority has constructed a green belt on farmers’ land adjoining our project. If there is any issue, it will be resolved through discussion,” said Anil Sharma, chairman and managing director of Amarapali Group.

{{/usCountry}}“It seems that this land was illegally allotted to the builder in 2010 without paying compensation. We will try to resolve the matter on Monday. We will call all the stakeholders to resolve it. The authority will have to purchase this land and allot it again to the builder,” said Vijay Kumar Yadav, deputy chief executive officer, Noida authority.
