Feeding the poor: DLF gives food to 5,000 labourers, kids in city

“We have committed ourselves to provide storage facilities and distribute food to the needy. Due to inefficiency and shortage of proper storage and distribution options, lakhs of tonnes of foodgrains are wasted every year which otherwise could be used for the poor and underprivileged,” said Lt General Rajender Singh, CEO, DLF corporate social responsibility and foundation.

The food distribution drive is a part of the international initiative started by the International Food Banking Network in the USA after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

As a part of the ongoing social responsibility initiatives, DLF Foundation in association with Aidmatrix Foundation is providing free food items to the underprivileged.

Recently, Delhi became the first city in the country to set up food banks through which excess cooked and uncooked food will be collected from weddings, parties, social functions, hotels and individual donors.
