Fire breaks out in slums in east, south Delhi

The incident took place at around 11.30 am in the Yamuna Pushta area where an MCD demolition drive was going on.

Fire broke out in densely populated slum clusters on the banks of the Yamuna river in east Delhi and Kapaskeda area of south Delhi, bordering Gurgaon, on Friday morning.

The fire broke out at around 11.30 am in the Yamuna Pushta area of east Delhi where a demolition drive of the MCD against illegal constructions was going on, the Fire Department officials said.

Ten fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the blaze, they said.

In Kapaskeda, fire broke out in the slum cluster at 11.15 am. Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot, they added.

Six persons were killed in a blaze in a slum cluster in Geeta Colony area of east Delhi along the banks of the Yamuna on April 3.
