The incident took place at about 12.30 pm, shortly after the Nauchandi Express coming from Saharanpur terminated at platform 8, a North Central Railways spokesman Amit Malviya said.

"All the passengers had alighted from the train before a sleeper coach caught fire. Fire brigade personnel were pressed into service and the blaze was extinguished within half an hour," he said.

There have been no injuries to any of the passengers on the platform or to the personnel involved in firefighting. The bogey has been partially damaged in the fire, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained, Malviya added.
