Hitting the campaign trail at Kunarpur in Narayangarh area, Mishra attended several meetings in his constituency. Besides attacking railway minister Mamata Banejree on her “poor” performance, Mishra said the “Left Front will form the government for the eighth time.”

He also talked about the development work undertaken by the Left Front. “Only we can carry out development work and we are doing so. There is a lot to be done and we will do it. But, if we have done anything wrong, forgive us. We will rectify our faults,” Mishra said in his speech in the election campaign.

On the other hand, some Trinamool supporters agitated over the change of candidate in their Assembly area. Earlier, Kausar Ali was announced as the party candidate in the area, but later the name of Surya Atto was announced.

This has made some party supporters furious. Protesting against the nomination of Atto, some party workers took out rallies at Thakurchak and Belda on Sunday.

“We will not accept Atto as the candidate. We have told the state Trinamool Congress leadership about our displeasure and will put forward our demand to the party district leadership. If Kasur is not made the candidate, the CPI(M) will get an advantage,” said Mohini Pal, Trinamool leader of the area.

Atto said, “The decision of selecting candidates is taken by our leader Mamata Banerjee. We will fight hard to win the seat and will surely gift the Assembly seat to our leader.”
