Former Army chief fails to vote

Former Chief of Army Staff Gen (retd) Sunit Rodrigues was at the receiving end of a slight oversight which led to his name being absent from voters list in spite of the fact that he possessed a photo-identity card.

Rodrigues could not exercise his franchise at his polling station in Porvorim in Panaji constituency as his name was missing from the voters list.

When asked about the incident, chief election officer B S Bhalla admitted to receiving a complaint of that nature, but said it was a mistake.

"It may have been a mistake and if his name is in fact missing from the rolls, we will see to it that it is corrected but as of now he is not able to vote", Bhalla said.
