He was arrested from his residence in Subhash Nagar in west Delhi after a court issued warrant against him on a complaint that he manhandled officials carrying out orders to seal off the industrial units out in Mayapuri locality during the protest.

"This case relates to the BJP protest against the Delhi government that wanted to move industries out of the capital, leaving hundreds of thousands of people jobless," Balli, a former Industries and Jail minister, said.

Balli will be produced at the Patiala House court on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West district) Ravinder Yadav said.

The Supreme Court has also issued a notice to the BJP MLA for contempt over its orders to seal commercial establishments in residential zones of Delhi.

He is scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court on July 17.
