Gigabyte Tech plans hub in India

Taiwan-based Gigabyte Technology to set up hub in India, for manufacturing and research and development activities.

Taiwan-based Gigabyte Technology on Thursday announced setting up of its hub in the country, for manufacturing and research and development activities.

Gigabyte, one of the leading motherboard manufacturer, is looking for making substantial investment for the purpose through its joint venture with D-Link India Ltd.

"We are looking at starting our manufacturing as well as research and development activities here," Gigabyte Vice President Richard Ma said in Mumbai.

The company is also in the process of acquiring 10 acres of land in Goa for the purpose. Initially, it will begin its activities here for domestic consumption and would further expand to supplement its global operations, he added.
