The ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW) might well prove to be a stepping stone for Indian designers to be in the Paris Fashion Week.

For, the Fashion Week this time has a VVIP on the front row: Federation Francaise de la couture, du prêt a porter de couturiers et des createurs de mode's President Didier Grumbach.

No doubt, the very presence of Grumbach itself at the fashion week spells success for the Indian fashion industry.

His Federation is the most revered in global fashion and it conducts the Paris couture and prêt a porter a weeks.

If Indian designers cast an impression on Grumbach, it might well prove to be their entry into the most coveted Paris Fashion Week.

"I have seen some of the Indian designers' creations and I must say some of them can be on the couture shows," said Grumbach in an exclusive interview to Hindustan Times.

"Some of the shows here are not directional but emotional. The main thing to remember is to have the distribution network in place. Indian designers are very talented and when we can have designers from outside France like Belgium, Russia and Japan, I can't see any reason why they shouldn't be included in our calendar."

For this, Grumbach is very clear that designers have to make the first move. Depending on the creations, they can either be in the couture or the prêt a porter fashion week calendar.

"Before they are considered for the Federation's membership they have to first get into the fashion week calendar," he said.

"FDCI has done a good job of setting up this fashion week, and we will see how we can take this further."

With the God of fashion Grumbach among the audience this time, it will be a great idea for Indian fashion industry to pay heed to what he says, for, this golden chance may not come again!
