With employees of the civil secretariat observing a strike today amid protests in the complex, the government invited leaders of various employees organisations on strike to discuss their demands on March 19.

"The Government has invited leaders of various employees' organisations to discuss their demands, for which, they have been agitating for some time," finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather said in the state Assembly.
Intervening during Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly on a point raised by Harshdev Singh and Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta regarding the recent 5-day strike of government employees, the minister said he would apprise the House in this regard with facts when he replies to the budget discussion.
The minister said the government is sensitive to the demands of the employees and said he had detailed discussion some ten days ago with about 50 representatives of various employees' Unions and the second round of discussions is being held on March 19.
The secretariat employees on Monday came out of their offices in the complex and held anti-government demonstrations and went on strike for a day.
