The government rejected Hockey India's clarifications to the show cause notice issued on Tuesday and withdrew the recognition given to function as a National Sports Federation given to the year-old body set up by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

In a letter to HI, the Ministry said: “As HI has refused to accept its public character and has failed to abide by the Government guidelines, it cannot continue to enjoy the Government recognition.”
