Grand finale promises energy and vibrancy

The grand finale of Lakme India Fashion Week 2004 would be packed with 'energy', 'vibrancy' and 'colour', promise designers Aki Narula, Anshu Arora Sen and Anamika Khanna.
"It will be different. Not the usual stuff you see on the ramp," Aki Narula, one of the three designers selected by Lakme, the main sponsor of the event, said.
The theme of the grand finale is 'Fruit Shock', Lakme's fashion statement for Summer-Fall 2004.
"Here shock does not mean shocking, it means the unexpected," Anil Chopra, the newly appointed Vice President of Lakme said.
It is part of Lakme's tradition to announce fashion statements for both summer and winter and then select designers to reflect the mood in their creations, Chopra said.
Last year, the designers for the concluding show were Wendell Rodricks and Hemant Trivedi and the designers for this year were chosen because they are "young and energetic and their collection is colourful, exuding youth and vibrancy," he said.
Lakme has gone a step further to choose fruits against the international summer statement of flowers for 2004, Chopra said, adding fruits was the choice because they had colour, smell and taste.
