"Leaving for Rashtrapati Bhavan in a while. Last time I attended an oath ceremony on the forecourt was in 1999, seems like yesterday," wrote Abdullah on Twitter.

A former union minister with BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, Abdullah wrote, "I remember my name being called out and taking the oath of office and secrecy administered by President (K R) Narayanan. How time flies (sic)" wondered the chief minister on the micro-blogging website.

He added, as he kept tweeting all the while, "What fun to sit here and watch the new power dynamic unfold."

Leaving behind the sabre rattling of the parliament polls with prime minister Narendra Modi, Abdullah tweeted: "For what it's worth I wish Team Modi the very best as they embark on a journey to govern India for the next five years."

"I hope they hand over a better India to their successors when the time comes to do so. That's the very least we can expect or hope for."
