The bench served notices to the IIM-I director, chairman and professor against whom she had filed a sexual harassment complaint. Justice Prakash Shrivastav also put a stay order on vacating of the quarter provided to her by the institute.
The woman professor at IIM had filed a complaint with the college authorities against a fellow professor who allegedly demanded sexual favours from her during official tours. Her complaint was investigated by the gender sensitivity committee of the institute which was reconstituted on her request.
However, after the committee gave a clean chit to the accused, the woman professor was sacked and asked to vacate the staff quarters by May 27.
In the petition filed by the woman professor, she had asked the court to quash the committee report and the termination letter. She has contended that after the report was tabled by the committee before the director on April 27, she was terminated with immediate effect in a hush- hush manner. The termination letter mentioned that the professor would have to vacate the quarter provided to her.
Senior lawyer Ashok Chitale appeared in court on behalf of IIM- I chairman and director while Vivyesh Atre represented the accused professor.
