HMT plans Harare, Bulawayo centres

HMT's export arm HMT (International) Limited would set up Indo-Zimbabwe Technology Centre (IZTC) in Harare and India Technology Centre (ITC) in Bulawayo.

The project valued at Rs 23 crore will be implemented under grant from the Governemnt of India to Government of Zimbabwe and pave way for the infrastructure development for small and medium enterprises in Zimbabwe, HMT said in a release in Bangalore.

Under the agreement, HMT(I) would set up integrated facility at Harare comprising technical training centre, common facility centre and a small and medium enterprises services institute (SMESI).

"HMT with its domain competency and expertise would equip the centre with high-precision high-technology CNC machines and allied equipment for training/manufacturing of tools, dies and PCBs," it said.

HMT(I) would also undertake modernisation of the common facility centre and vocational training centres at identified locations in Zimbabwe.

The projects are expected to improve visibility and co-create engineering capability in and around Zimbabwe, according to HMT.
