Huge haul of arms in Kanpur

THE BECONGANJ police today unearthed a huge cache of arms and ammunition allegedly expected to be used to create panic on Independence Day.

The police arrested three accused and recovered 10 heavy bombs, 50 small bombs, five countrymade pistols along with over a dozen .315 bore cartridges and a stolen four-wheeler.

However, the kingpins of the conspiracy Munna and Mukhtar fled from the spot.

According to the police, the two main accused who could not be arrested were also residents of Beconganj police station area. However, both are natives of Kolkata.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mehraj alias Kali Ghata, who has houses in Jajmau and Hiramau areas, Mohammad Sidab of Tripal Wala Hata Maidan and Arshad of Beconganj area.
