Accompanied by families of "disappeared" persons, the Hurriyat activists carrying placards, raised slogans against "state terrorism, forced disappearances and maltreatment of detainees in jails within and outside the state".

The protesters, led by senior separatist leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah and Sheikh Abdul Aziz among others, earlier took out a procession from Hurriyat headquarters at Rajbagh to Pratap park in the heart of the city.
