I want to direct a film: Madhoo
The actress, who was catapulted to stardom with Roja, speaks to Kshama Rao about life and her future plans.
"I believe in miracles. There have been many instances in my life when I just had to wish for something and it’s come true. I was pregnant with my first baby and then it was believed I had miscarried."
"But my belief in Kali ma, the goddess of power was so strong that my friend from Ahmedabad visited me with a photograph of the goddess when I was getting a sonography done. And miraculously my baby was found alive.”
Actress Madhoo (Phool Aur Kaante, Roja) is narrating this incident on the sets of Mann Mein Hai Visshwas. The Sony show is about faith and spirituality drawn from real life instances.
Madhoo recounts the many times she has experienced “miracles even in the smallest of instances. It’s true when they say that be careful about what you wish because it may just come true.”
She shares another incident. “My mother always wanted me to have a career in films. She passed away before I became an actress. For many years after she died, I couldn’t tell my father that I wanted to join films. Not even when he started producing films himself. I was very scared of him. One day I had accompanied my father to a studio where his film was being shot."
“A producer saw me and told my dad he wanted to cast me in his next film. My father dismissed it as a joke but I took that opportunity to tell him I wanted to do the film. He agreed to let me join the industry after a few days and that to me was a miracle. My mother’s belief had paid off.”
Mother of two “miracle babies, Ameya and Keya” and married to a businessman, Madhoo says she misses acting the most. “Everything else is secondary to the happiness I get from acting. Of course, being mother equals that happiness. It’s the time constraint that has affected my doing films. I can’t be away from my family for long. They support my decision to work as long as I am not neglecting my children.”
