THE ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd, country’s leading private life insurer, has launched a “regular premium plan” for patients diagnosed with cancer in the country.

Sujit Ganguly, head (Marketing), ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, told reporters here that the premium plan launched for cancer patients pays “cash benefit” on the diagnosis as well as different stages in the treatment of various cancer conditions.
“Cancer treatment in the country is expensive and the health solution being offered by ICICI Prudential Life Insurance takes care of the medical expenses of the patient during the entire treatment period”, he said.
Discussing the company’s growth record during 2005-06, Ganguly said that ICICI Prudential Life Insurance had registered a 64 per cent growth in the “weighted new business premium” category during the financial year ended March 31, 2006 while taking its premium income to Rs 2,412 crore. “The company, during the period under review, also became the first in the country to have crossed the 2 million policies and 500,000 rural policies mark respectively during 2005-06”, he added.
Rishi Srivastava, head of sales, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, said advanced medical care now available in the country had made various types of cancers treatable in the country. “However, cancer treatment remains an expensive affair which prompted the company to develop a unique product for catering to the financial needs of the cancer patients”, he added.
